Leadership Fellow - The Wayfaring Band

The spring break of my sophomore year of college, I had the wonderful opportunity to adventure with the Wayfaring Band to Austin, TX. The Wayfaring Band is a non-profit organization dedicated to taking adults with intellectual and physical disabilities on "normal" adventures to places across the United States and even overseas. As a leadership fellow, I was fortunate enough to connect with amazing individuals who I would have never had the opportunity to otherwise. My responsibilities included modeling socially-acceptable behavior, keeping the band members safe, and contributing to the group dynamic to allow smooth facilitation of events. From this experience, I learned the importance of diversity and inclusion and became more self-aware. If I had the time and resources, I would do this experience all over again. That being said, I highly recommend the leadership fellow position the Band offers. To showcase inclusion, love, and adventure, I created a video from our trip to Austin.
